Design Challenge Deliverables DUE!

MESA Day

When

5 p.m., April 23, 2021
  • All projects deliverables (listed below) will be due by 5:00 pm on Friday, April 23 and no materials will be accepted after Monday, April 26. Late penalties will be applied per the specifications. If sharing a link make sure it can be read by anyone with the link, otherwise judges may not be able to score your materials.
    • National Competition Deliverables – Poster, Design Brief, Pitch Video. If you have an National Competition team please let MESA know by April 1.
      • Pitch Videos will be recorded via a virtual meeting. MESA staff will contact you to schedule a time during the week of April 19 to conduct a recording of your pitch via a Zoom meeting or platform of your choice if you have the ability to record. If your team is ready to record prior to April 19 we can schedule an early time.
      • Technical Interviews will be conducted live on the morning of MESA Day between 9 am and 12 pm. MESA staff will open a time slot registration for NEDC teams the week of April 19. Slots will be on a first come, first serve basis.
    • ASCE Support the Sky (Skyscraper) Challenge Deliverables
      • Engineering Design Notebook
      • Engineering Presentation – Teams will need to record a video presentation. MESA suggests recording a virtual meeting where students can present their design via a slideshow with pictures.
      • Completed LEED certification form – Judges will use as a reference and confirm what you check off. Supporting data should be included in the notebook.
    • Mobile App Creation Challenge Deliverables
      • Design Brief – see specifications for required elements
      • Pitch Video - MESA suggests recording a virtual meeting where students can present their pitch via a slideshow.
      • Source Code
      • Business Plan (High School Only)
      • Engineering Design Notebook
    • Disaster Relief Shelter Deliverables
      • Poster – see specs for required elements
      • Pitch Video - MESA suggests recording a virtual meeting where students can present their pitch via a slideshow.
      • Demonstration Video - MESA suggests recording a virtual meeting where students can record themselves building the structure. Judges will use a combination of the video time and their own timing to ensure build time is 5 minutes or less. Can be combined with Pitch video.
      • Engineering Design Notebook – should include detailed diagram of the final shelter that demonstrates that it meets design parameters

Hack Attack Deliverables – None. Hack Attack scoring will be live the morning of MESA Day between 9 am and 12 pm. MESA staff will open a time slot registration for Hack sessions the week of April 19. Slots will be on a first come, first serve basis. All members of your team will compete during the same time slot to allow for team’s to implement gaming strategies. Scores will be determined by averaging the scores from your team. MESA is considering running Hack Attack Tournament style or have a playoff round to break ties and final award placements.
